![]() ![]() ![]() If I intentionally wanted to illustrate an unreliable trigger within a videogame I would personally not write it to behave anything as depicted here in RDR. ![]() But what worries me is how these things are implemented.įor it seems to me they behave in a way that points more to programming incompetence than any sort of intentional design?ĭeveloping games inside Unity you will run into very similar issues in control behavior if you make the mistake to call your control inputs from within the physics update (Which is running on a low fixed hertz rate). You have to slow down and be methodical and aware of each click to remain accurate and effective. This often causes an additional round to be fired where you only intended to have it ready to go.Īll these behaviors somewhat adds a feeling of these being mechanically wonky old guns that don't have crisp triggers which sorta adds to the setting. Also there is clearly a weird input buffer where spamming clicks inside the cyclic of racking the bolt, pump or fanning the hammerĬues a buttonpress to play long after you've stopped clicking. There seem to be a, seemingly random, delay from the buttonpress til the game decides to fire your weapon. Make sure Full-screen is selected, perform scaling on is “GPU” and the override the scaling mode set by games and programs box is checked.Coming back to RDR2 after playing other shooters I can't help but be amazed at just how inconsistent and irresponsive the firing of weapons in RDR2 is. Make sure you check the box of the custom resolution after you’ve created it.ġ2 – Go to “Adjust Desktop Size and Position”. Enter your desired resolution, hit test and then apply. This will bring up the below window.ġ1 – Click Create Custom Resolution. This will ensure that your settings aren’t overwritten.Ĩ – Open up your Nvidia Control Panel (right click on desktop -> nvidia control panel)ĩ – Under Display, select “change resolution”.ġ0 – Click on “Customize” within the change resolution tab. Go back into properties on GameUserSettings.ini, and check the read-only box. You will want to change these to your desired resolution. Note: You’re going to need to enable this after you change it, so keep this in mind.Ħ – Right click GameUserSettings.ini -> Edit.ħ – Notice the red arrows in the image. Make sure the “read-only” box is un-checked. Now, you should be at “C:\Users\(YOUR-USER)\AppData\Local\FortniteGame\Saved\Config\WindowsClient” with GameUserSettings.ini showing in the folder.ĥ- Right click GameUserSettings.ini -> properties. Find FortniteGame within that, double click it. From here, go up one folder to AppData.Ĥ – Double click Local. ![]() From there, this screen will pop.Ģ – Into the “Run” box that pops up, type %appdata%.ģ – This is going to take you to “C:\Users\(YOUR-USER)\AppData\Roaming”. Click it, select the search box so that it begins blinking, and type in “Run”. I come from a CS:GO background so running stretched resolution is pretty normal to me, and it doesn’t bother me anymore graphically.ġ – Go to the start menu, in the bottom left on your desktop. So, if you’re someone that can get over the lack of graphics, you’re going to love stretched resolution. Outside of the lower graphics, though, there isn’t really any other cons. This is directly related to them playing with stretched. You’ll notice a lot of people complaining about some of the pro Fortnite player’s twitch quality. Even a game with Fortnite’s graphics is quite beautiful on the native resolution. Missing pixels, means it is going to be less sharp, and slightly blurry. If you’re one that is super into graphics, cartoon-y or not, you’re not going to want to play on stretched. Why doesn’t everyone run stretched resolution if it’s so beneficial? Well, it is slightly ugly. Placebo or not, it is certainly making a difference in a player’s game. It makes the game look like it is actually being played faster, and that in itself can get someone’s blood pumping to the point where they’re just on fire. At first glance, stretched is incredibly ugly, but it quickly grows on you. In conjunction with less input lag (the game actually feels more responsive), and higher frames, is the reason behind most Fortnite professional players running native resolution. This is the FOV increase we have mentioned. You’re going to notice how much more space there is between the top of the tower, and the top of the screenshot in comparison to the bottom right (1920x1080p). If you notice in the top left, top right, and bottom left pictures, the electrical tower. You’re going to notice in the right picture, the difference between four different solutions. ![]()
